Photograph of some of the celebrations for the 1908 Tercentenary of Quebec, form the British Library.
At work I'm in the process of digitising a collection of Canadian photographs the Library holds, an example from the collection can be seen above. Last week saw the majority of the digitisation finished and now I'm beginning to think about how to provide access to and display the photographs (you can see a first attempt here). Once it's up the collection will be a fantastic resource on the photographic history of Canada and it will represent an evolution of this historic collection. Indeed, you could argue it represents an entirely new collection - something I'm going to sit down and think about more in the coming weeks. For now though, I leave you with this small example of the contents of the collection.
I should note that things will be a bit quiter around here for a few months - once I've finished this digitisation project there's the small matter of needing to write a book about the collection. However, there will be some content going up...
I'm preparing for a charity bike ride in June and am going to appropriate the blog for a while to chart my progress. Expect punctures, saddle-sore and the occassional success - I promise to be back to blogging on collections soon.
